How to proceed when bring in video and photo equipments to Brazil

If you intend to shoot in Brazil and plan to bring in your own equipment, be aware of these recommendations below, and know that since Jan 2022, Brazil is no longer a signatory to the ATA Carnet as an acceptable document at Customs.

The only document accepted at Customs in Brazil is the EDBV - Traveller's Eletronic Declaration of Goods. You can follow the steps below on how to register and issue it
or contact us to support you with all details, including assistance at the airport if you wish.

Registering your equipment before travelling to Brazil

To avoid any headaches when entering Brazil, it is very important to register in advance all of your video and electronic equipments through the link: EDBV - Traveller’s Electronic Declaration of Goods. This form is hosted on the website of Receita Federal do Brasil (Brazilian Federal Revenue), the equivalent to the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) from the United States.

Fill out the form with all equipment details as brand, model, serial number, quantity, and value. At the end you can transmit the EDBV.

Entering in Brazil

After registering the equipment on the website mentioned, all you need to do is print out the EDBV and present it at Brazilian customs when you land at any international airport in Brazil. Look for the sign "Goods to declare" and present the equipment with the EDBV. Brazilian agents will check that all the gear brought in is correctly listed on the declaration. If everything is okay, you will receive a stamp/signature on your EDBV.

Leaving Brazil

The same stamped EDBV used on the entrance in Brazil must be presented at the customs when leaving the country. The agents will verify if the same equipment brought in are leaving the country. After it, you can check baggage with the airline company.

Did you find all this too complicated? Count on our advice, we can support you remotely or at the airport with experts on it.
